Floor Finish

What percentage of your floors have the following finish?

Carpet, Acrylic/Nylon
A heavy acrylic or nylon woven fabric attached to a rubber or burlap like backing.  It is attached to the floor either by an adhesive, or by nailing strips located along the perimeter of the room.

Carpet, Custom Acrylic/Nylon
A heavy acrylic or nylon woven fabric attached to a rubber or burlap like backing.  It is attached to the floor either by an adhesive, or by nailing strips located along the perimeter of the room.  Where standard wall-to-wall carpet weights between 26 and 28 oz per square foot, custom carpet is much plusher, weighing approximately 35 oz per square foot. Custom carpeting may also incorporate more than one carpet color and type in the room for boarders and special patterns. These pieces are all patched together to form one wall-to-wall carpet.

Carpet, Wool/Berber
A heavy wool or berber woven fabric attached to a rubber or burlap like backing.  It is attached to the floor either by an adhesive, or by nailing strips located along the perimeter of the room.  Wool or Berber carpeting has a very dense weave with very short fibers that makes it very durable. This carpeting is generally an upgrade or found in higher end homes.

Carpet over Hardwood, Acrylic/Nylon
A heavy acrylic or nylon woven fabric attached to a rubber or burlap like backing.  It is attached to the floor either by an adhesive, or by nailing strips located along the perimeter of the room. This carpeting also includes the additional cost of having a hardwood floor under the carpeting.  This is typically found in older homes where the original floors are hardwood, then were carpeted over.

Cost represents an average of these styles.

Tile, Ceramic, Imported
A thin, high-quality, flat piece of fired clay or imported glazed porcelain tile that is applied over wood joists and sheathing, or a concrete slab with cement or other adhesive and grouted joints.
